Tourism Driver Community Holds Blood Donation Drive in Bali as a Gesture of Hope

DENPASAR, NusaBali.com – Although the reopening of international flights to Bali has not yet seen an influx of foreign tourists, the local driver community, who typically serve tourists, is filled with optimism for the future of tourism on the Island of the Gods.

As an expression of gratitude, three community organizations, namely Golden Bali, RTB, and Bro Dewata, organized a social event in the form of a blood donation drive held at Barong Sariwisata Budaya on Griya Anyar Street No. 25B, Kepaon, Denpasar, on Saturday afternoon (October 16, 2021).

“Despite the absence of international flights landing at Ngurah Rai Airport, we remain grateful. Hopefully, next month in November, we will receive good news for all of us,” said Ario Rusianingrat, the Blood Donation Coordinator.

Rio Zaonk, a prominent figure in the tourism industry, explained that the past two years have been challenging for the tourism sector, including the driver community. As foreign guests who usually utilize their services have completely disappeared, especially during the implementation of Emergency PPKM (Community Activity Restrictions Enforcement) and Level 4 restrictions in Bali.

However, Rio acknowledged that blood donation activities have been a regular agenda every three months for the driver community. This time, it coincided with the reopening of Ngurah Rai Airport.

“Despite the economic difficulties, humanitarian activities must continue. Therefore, the three communities remain committed to carrying out this social action in the form of blood donation,” Rio stated.

Meanwhile, Hendra, the Chairman of Bro Dewata, mentioned that despite being separate organizations, the tourism driver community shares the same mission. “We have a shared mission. Together, we aim to make a positive impact in the name of humanity,” Hendra emphasized.

Eri Budi Sisworo, representing Rajawali Trans Bali, echoed the same sentiment. “May our spirit and compassion towards others, as well as other humanitarian activities, continue to be carried out. Because at the core, we are all social beings who should constantly support and assist one another,” said Eri, affectionately known as Pak’e.

Through the blood donation drive conducted in collaboration with the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) in Bali Province, 22 blood bags were collected out of 25 registered donors. “PMI Bali Province greatly appreciates the activities organized by the tourism driver community, which regularly takes place at Sari Budaya Barong Tanah Kilap Griya Anyar,” stated Dr. Ernest, representing PMI Bali Province.
